Keeping gates and fences in good condition requires regular maintenance. Fencelines can be weakened by the elements, such as gale strength winds. In some cases, accidents can cause substantial damage, thus compromising its integrity. A robust fence can provide protection, privacy, aesthetic appeal and peace of mind.

Our installations are well-suited to a wide variety of settings and applications, including residential, industrial, farming and commercial settings. When the damage goes unchecked and rectified, it may bring down an entire section of fence.

Periodic inspection and maintenance provide a sure-fire way to avoid extensive repairs. Some of the key features that require close inspection include support rails, the condition of vertical pickets, posts, and gates.

Fortunately, our team of experienced fencing technicians can employ an array of proper fence repair techniques to restore structural integrity.

Fixing a Sagging Gate

A sagging gate makes it difficult to open and close. It tends to drag on the ground. Thankfully, we can help rectify the problem by repairing the gate posts to ensure that they are set deep in the ground and sturdy. This task requires the use of adequate concrete and the poles installed on stable ground for maximum stability. For ease of use, we install wheels on the gate panels.

DIY Tightening Wire with Hammer

Splicing broken or tightening sagging wires is easy for our skilled crews. We typically use a fence stretcher, which makes it simpler and quicker. However, the job can be completed satisfactorily with an ordinary hammer. This basic technique requires the addition of a short wire that is smooth. The additional wire helps loop the ends of the damaged section. With the smooth wire, the task is carried out by performing the hammer roll with the aim to tighten it.

For the splice, we loop one end of the damaged piece and run an extra wire through the loop. With the hammer firmly placed against the piece, it becomes easier to anchor the loose end onto the hammer claw. The wire is rolled around the hammer for an ultra-tight finish.

Some of the key tips for better splicing and tightening include:

– Looping one end and pulling the other side through it
– Anchoring and twisting the loose end
– Wrapping the wire around the hammer by just twisting
– The bending wire remains tight when the hammer is untwisted
– The tight crimp helps ensure the wire stays in position
– The splice is completed by wrapping one end of the wire on itself
